Our teaching follows the Ohara style of ikebana where we aim to help you:
Develop technical skills in foundational Ohara forms, including Moribana and Heika.
Foster a sensitivity to seasonal materials and natural expression.
Encourage personal growth through the practice of mindful arrangements.

Our Ikebana instructor, Nono Tabata, joins us from Japan. She is a skilled practitioner and fully qualified teacher of the Ohara School of Ikebana.
Nono brings years of experience and dedication to her craft, and her teachings offer not only technical skill but also insight into the cultural and spiritual depth of Ikebana.
Please note our Introduction to Ikebana class may be taught by another teacher though Nono will lead all other classes.

Introduction to Ohara Style of Ikebana - 4 lessons
in this class we will introduce you to the philosophy, history and aesthetics of the Ohara School of Ikebana over 4 weeks.

Foundation Course in Ohara Style Ikebana - 8 lessons
in this class we explore Moribana, the flower arrangement style pioneered by the Ohara School

Intermediate Course in Ohara Style Ikebana - 8 lessons
you will gain a deeper understanding of all 3 Moribana styles and use shippō - a different king of flower holder than the kenzan

Advanced/Assistant Teacher’s Course Level One in Ohara Style Ikebana - 8 lessons
this is the first step in learning to teach ikebana. you will learn to arrange flowers in vases without using kenzan or shippō

Advanced/Assistant Teacher’s Course Level Two in Ohara Style Ikebana - 8 lessons
the final course to becoming qualified to teacher level. learn to capture and recreate scenes from nature as well as building on knowledge of all other styles
